Alliance France Cuir, the French leather industry confederation, announced that Christophe Dehard has been elected as president for the next three years following the General Assembly Meeting.
In recent months, the confederation has undergone a transformation and has been renamed Alliance France Cuir (AFCUIR), formerly Conseil National du Cuir. With a total of 21 professional federations bringing together all stakeholders along the value chain, from livestock to finished product retailers, Alliance France Cuir is a unique professional organisation dedicated to leather.
Alliance France Cuir, the professional confederation of the French leather industry, has announced the election of Christophe Dehard as president for the next three years following its annual general meeting held on 20 June 2024. Christophe Dehard succeeds Frank Boehly, who has been at the head of the confederation since December 2014.
Christophe Dehard, 51, has a wealth of experience in upstream sectors of the industry, including animal husbandry and post/leather preparation.
He plays a crucial role in the quality of finished products, ensuring that raw materials for the next stages of the leather value chain are first class.
After studying management and gaining extensive international experience in the agri-food sector, he joined SVA Jean Rozé Group (Les Mousquetaires Group) in 2012, managing the fifth quarter and by-product upcycling department for the beef and pork divisions.
Christophe Dehard is also president of the Fédération Française des Cuirs et Peaux (French Federation of Hide and Leather) since 2018 and first vice-president of the CTC, the professional committee for the development of the leather, footwear, leather products and glove-making industries.
With extensive expertise at the crossroads between the meat industry, animal production and upcycling of by-products, Christophe Dehard is keen to unite the industry’s interconnected sectors and facilitate links with the CTC.
“An industry united, committed and fully focussed on the future”
“I am proud to take over the presidency of Alliance France Cuir and to be the spokesperson for the 21 federations that make up our confederation. Our aim is to promote, in France and abroad, a French leather industry that is world-class and sustainable because it respects men, women and the environment,” said Christophe Dehard, the new president of Alliance France Cuir.
To achieve this, the forthcoming mandate will focus on addressing the challenges facing the sector, particularly in terms of social and environmental responsibility. Efforts to educate and raise awareness of the public and public authorities on the realities of the sector, its trade and leather will continue. The aim is also to help the industry project itself into the future, without forgetting to capitalise on the legacy of the past.
