In Vicenza, one of Italy’s most important leather production hubs, the “Sezione Concia” of Confindustria Vicenza has officially adopted a new name. During the General Council meeting held on November 10, members unanimously voted to rename the section as “Pelle e Cuoio”.
The Section President, Mirko Balsemin, emphasized that the name change marks a crucial step toward improving public perception of the industry and accurately reflecting the cultural value of leather-making. “For years, despite our pioneering work, a distorted image has formed around our sector due to limited understanding and weak narrative representation. I believe this name change will strengthen our communication efforts and reinforce the sense of belonging among our members,” he said.
According to Balsemin, the decision represents more than a simple rebranding—it embodies cultural awareness and a symbolic rebirth. “Naming is a creative act. This new name expresses the spirit, aesthetics, and centuries-old craftsmanship that define our work,” he added.
The transition from “Concia” to “Pelle e Cuoio” reflects a shift from defining a technical process to highlighting the essence of the material itself. While “Concia” evokes precision and technical expertise, “Pelle e Cuoio” brings forward the elegance of touch, the beauty of form, and the sensory identity of leather.
This strategic change aims to build a renewed narrative for the Vicenza leather sector—one that aligns with modern expectations and strengthens its cultural and industrial presence. For the industry, the new name symbolizes a refreshed identity and the beginning of a new chapter.
