The French luxury group strengthens its manufacturing footprint in the Ardennes region with a 26th leather workshop scheduled to open in 2027, reinforcing its industrial presence across France.
Hermès has officially launched construction on a new leather goods manufacturing site in Charleville-Mézières (Ardennes). This new facility will be the third site within the Ardennes division of Hermès Maroquinerie-Sellerie, following the Bogny-sur-Meuse (2004) and La Sormonne (2023) workshops.
Scheduled to open in 2027, the site will ultimately employ 250 artisans. It forms part of a broader expansion plan that also includes upcoming workshops in Colombelles (Normandy), L’Isle d’Espagnac (Charente), and Loupes (Gironde).
In addition, Hermès is building the Beyrand manufacture in Couzeix (Haute-Vienne), dedicated to tableware and scheduled for completion in 2027.
The group is also committed to preserving craftsmanship through the Hermès School of Know-How, located in Charleville-Mézières. This in-house institution trains future artisans in the region and organizes CAP Maroquinerie and CQP Coupe certifications, in collaboration with France Travail for recruitment.
Hermès currently operates 60 production and training sites, and nearly 300 retail stores across 45 countries, employing 25,185 people globally, including 15,556 in France (2024). The company has been led by Axel Dumas, a sixth-generation family member, since 2013.
In 2024, Hermès achieved consolidated revenues of €15.2 billion, marking a 15% increase at constant exchange rates, and 13% at current exchange rates, compared to 2023—showcasing the strength of a business model rooted in craftsmanship and territorial development.
