Hosted in Istanbul during the 73rd Edition of the International Footwear Sub-Industry Fair AYSAF, the “Tasarlıyoruz Dericesine” student showcase returned for its second year, bringing together young designers who explore leather with an innovative and artistic vision. The selection impressed visitors with projects that combine creativity, craftsmanship and functionality.
Emphasizing that leather is not just a material but a limitless platform for artistic expression, the exhibition featured leather design and engineering works, leather apparel, accessory designs (footwear, leather goods, jewelry), industrial leather products, and art-oriented projects. Each work demonstrated the designers’ unique interpretation of leather’s potential.
Students from Dokuz Eylül University, Selçuk University and Harran University exhibited their projects for four days, engaging directly with sector professionals from footwear design, fashion design and fine arts departments. Projects included in the showcase were selected by a distinguished jury of industry leaders, giving young talents valuable visibility and professional networking opportunities.
Organized with the collaboration of AYSAF, AYSAD and ARTKİM, the event acted as a bridge between the industry and new creative talent, allowing companies to discover future designers while giving students the opportunity to present their ideas to the sector. Many students expressed their wish for their designs to be brought to life with the support of companies and highlighted the strong vision of the “Tasarlıyoruz Dericesine” initiative.
University academics emphasized that the exhibition is a successful example of university–industry cooperation, helping young designers take confident steps into the sector. Students also extended their gratitude to their instructors and the organizing team.
